You should remember Vincenzo Natali for “the Cube” one of the best low budget movie ever seen or the cool “Elevator” a well made short movie. The canadian director this time wanna please us with this science fiction/horror movie recently screened as preview at Sitges -- which I missed, damnit.
The movie is about a genetic experiment, made by 2 scientists ignoring the laws, that splice human and animal DNA togheter to obtain a new life form, called Dren. That Dren born as deformed child will become a beautiful mutant female humanoid with some predator attitude. I would say the Dren has a cool creature design which I like it.
Splice is produced by Guillermo Del Toro.
Release date is set on early 2010
After being credited as possible director of Alien 5, which is something like a legend actually, I’m happy Natali got an opportunity to show his skills as horror/sci-fi director, finally.
